Privacy Policy
MĀIKA (“MĀIKA”, “we”, “us”) operates the waitlist at maikathelabel.com. This policy explains what we collect when you join the waitlist, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you join the waitlist and answer Maria’s questions, you may give us:
- Your email address
- Your first name
- Your phone number (optional)
- Preferences you tell us: your usual size, where you’d like us to ship, and what you move in
- If you arrived through an invite link, the code of the person who invited you
We also collect limited technical data needed to run the waitlist: your approximate IP address (used to prevent referral fraud and abuse) and a few functional cookies that remember your place in line and who invited you.
How we use your information
- To place you on the waitlist and show you your position
- To run the referral program (crediting invites and preventing fraud)
- To send you waitlist and launch updates by email, and, if you opt in, by SMS
- To understand aggregate interest (sizes, regions, activities) so we can plan the first drop
- To protect the waitlist against fraud and abuse
We do not sell your personal information.
Marketing communications
Email marketing is opt-in: you confirm your subscription through a confirmation email (double opt-in) before we add you to our list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. If we offer SMS updates, those are separately opt-in and you can reply STOP to cancel. Message and data rates may apply.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with service providers who help us run the waitlist, under contract and only as needed:
- Klaviyo — email and SMS marketing and delivery
- Supabase — database hosting
- Vercel — application hosting
These providers process data on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies that are necessary to operate the waitlist: one that keeps you signed in to your place in line, one that remembers an invite link you arrived through, and short-lived sign-in tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the waitlist.
Data retention
We keep your waitlist information until the launch is complete or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first, plus any period required to meet legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@maikathelabel.com and we’ll respond within the time required by law. You can also unsubscribe from marketing at any time as described above.
International transfers
We are based in Canada and use service providers that may process data in Canada, the United States, and the EU. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Children
The waitlist is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product develops. We’ll change the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll let waitlist members know by email.
